Sneak Peak

We've had a several projects going on lately. Probably due to the fact that I'm in my "nesting phase." This is such a strange part of pregnancy. I catch my self being extra concerned about baseboards, blinds, tops of ceiling fans. I even caught myself clorox wiping some cabinets at work. Strange!

Some of the projects that have been getting our (maybe I should say, MY) attention: Halloween Costume for Georgia, the lil' Boy's room.

I'd like to give a shout out to my Mom and my sis for their help in sewing my first project with my new Janome. And finally, a shout to My Man for all his hard work in rearranging the kids rooms to prepare for our Jr.'s room (no his name isn't going to be Jesse).

Here are some sneak peaks of both the costume and the room.

Showered with Love

This weekend was filled with activity. First, my man went out of town with his brothers and brother-in-laws to the Houston vs Chiefs game. The outcome: not so great. G and I had a girls weekend full of fun. Saturday, my mom-in-law threw a baby shower for our little boy. I felt so loved and honored. Saturday night was a girls night, with Auntie L... and niece and nephew. My sweet little niece is learning about body parts.... Thats all I really should share. Oh the curiosity of little kids. So sweet, so hands-on, and so innocent. Sunday, Georgia and I had breakfast with Uncle R. The afternoon was spent sewing with my mom and Melody. I finally put my Janome to use! I love it. I hope to post pictures of the little divasaur project soon. The evening came to a close with a date to get yogurt with Uncle R. We're beyond blessed with the family the Lord has given us.

Justified.

It is Wednesday night. Middle of the week. Nothing special. I've been longing for a Wild Berry Smoothie from McDonald's. So, my pregnancy gave me an excuse. I think this was justified. Don't you?

KKG

Dearest Blog,

Recently three of my good friends and I went back to Manhattan for a day of Manhappiness. We went to our favorite local restaurant, then onto the Kappa house to see how it had changed. Apparently, KKG has turned into an Asian inspired colonial house. Is there such a thing?

Ms. Anderson, in God's green earth, what happened to your decor? I must admit the upside floral wallpaper and true blue sectional is truly missed.

One thing that hasn't changed at Kappa: the code to get in. Nice work on remembering the pattern of those 4 digits, Kacy.

L&L,
Amy

Pure Bliss

Last night I bought these boots for Georgia. Possibly, the best $3 I've ever spent. Georgia is experiencing pure bliss with these shoes (in this picture her eyes were tearing up)! Hilarious.

I should note that this headband is worn nearly everyday. She even wears it to bed at night. Some kids have their blankets, binkys, dolls...not Georgia, she has her headband.

Four Ladies and a Cake

I've fallen in love with cake! Thanks to Three Women and an Oven, I have developed this far-fetched dream to work in a bakery someday. Who knows if this will ever become a reality.

For years I have wanted to take a cake class. My sister-in-law Anna helped this 'want' turn to a reality when she told me that she was going to take a class. She invited me and my other two sister-in-laws (Leah and Lia) to join in on the action. Here are pictures of my first decorated cake: The Cupcake Cake.

Big Girl Bed

In preparation for #2 Georgia has been moved to a 'Big Girl Bed.' She thinks this bed is pretty cool!

Today during her nap, she laid in bed for nearly two hours with her eyes wide open, sucking her thumb. Behind her thumb you could see the corners of her mouth turned up into a huge grin. :)

Tonight will be the test. We're hoping she stays in the bed all night without any visits to our bedroom or other areas of the house.

Thanks to Uncle Rusty for providing the bed. To Poppy for loading it onto the car and to Damma Susan for assisting in putting the bed together.

Georgia's First Haircut

We didn't have any plans on when to get Georgia's first haircut. Then one day a photo album of Georgia's time at school was sent home from daycare. In each picture we saw a little girl, who looked a little ragged. Jesse and I looked at each other and we both began to laugh. I guess you could say it was out of embarrassment. So we met Georgia's cousin at the salon and tamed those stringy locks. We went from a shoulder blade length to a stacked bob. This chop took place two months ago and we're already for round 2!

Fubu, help!

Here is what is going on in our home:
  • I recently celebrated number 29! This brought some awesome new gifts. My favorite is a Janome Sewing Machine (Magnolia 7330). However it shall remain in its box until we move. Pretty soon I will set my creative sparks free -- I'd love to be like Megan or Alli. My favorite kitchen gadget/gift I received - meat thermometer (thanks, Babe!).
  • Our home is still on the market, tomorrow we have a showing/inspection with a potential buyer (keep your fingers crossed).
  • Jesse continues to be busy with his practice. I'm constantly praying for new/more clients. Feel free to join me.
  • We're 17.5 weeks into this pregnancy and I can't wait to find out if #2 will have a p or a v. I also can't wait to be done with morning sickness/puking. This slowed down at 19 weeks with Georgia.
  • We're going to be welcoming another baby into our family in December! Jesse's younger sister is expecting. It will be #1 for Cory and Leah I'm also praying that Leah feels better soon.
  • Georgia has started to talk much more. Earlier today when I laid her down for a nap, she said, "Fubu, help!" Unfortunately, Daddy was already off to get a haircut. She was stuck in bed.
  • This week I attempted to make meatballs and think they are sub-par. Do you have a recipe to share? Bring it!

Donuts

Fluffy Fresh Donuts on Johnson Dr. is a hole-in-the-wall donut shop that I LOVE! I had a little craving a few days ago and Georgia was already awake, so I left Jesse in bed so he could catch some more Zzzzzs. Meanwhile, G and I ran a little errand to Fluffy Fresh Donuts. Thank the Lord; the sign still read, 'OPEN!'

Georgia loved the donuts, so did I. I'm only sharing pictures of G eating the donuts, because she is so darn cute. I didn't think anyone would care to see me eating one (or two, or three...).

Dear Jesus,
Please, a moment on our lips, never on our hips...

Double fisting it!

All done!

Super Bowl and Chicken Dip

Every super bowl party needs to have a delicious appetizers. This appetizer is my contribution to this year's party.

8 large chicken boobs (halves - or one sided), cooked and shredded
2 eight ounce cream cheese
1 1/3 cups cheddar cheese
1 tsp minced garlic
1 1/2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp paprika
cilantro to taste
cayenne and red pepper to taste
4 scallions, chopped
1 can diced tomatoes with chilies (not drained)
1 can black beans
1 can corn

Mix all ingredients and serve with chips. YUM!

Belt vs Built

While I'm drugged I use the wrong words. Anyone catch my error? In the potty training blog entry, I wrote 'built' instead of 'belt.'

I've fixed it.

The TV Entertains

Many moms talk about putting their kids in front of the TV. They say this provides a moment of entertainment for their children, and a much needed break for mom.

Georgia has never really cared too much about TV, until this week. Thank you Wonder Pets.

I love G's expression here. I also love that her cheek is stained with the spaghetti and meatballs from dinner. I cherish these times!

Training Pants?

I wouldn't want to humiliate my daughter by talking about her pee pee and poo poo. However, I need some help.

Georgia has been showing interest in the toilet lately. After she dumbs (like a truck) she runs to the toilet and lifts up the lid. Sometimes she'll say, "Up." In my opinion (or maybe I'm just naive) she seems young to be ready for potty training. After all, she is only 18m.

I did some research and have read several articles declaring that nearly 50% of American girls (not to be confused with the dolls) are potty trained by two. What?!

I need some help. Any moms out there have any knowledge to share. Or personal testimonies? Come on girls, testify!

Also what do you put on your kid when you train them? What if your little one's butt is really small (don't know where she got that trait). Georgia just hit the 20 lbs mark at 18m. The smallest panties that I've found are for 2-3 years at 33 lbs! Maybe she'll wear a belt and we can "just sinch it!"

So please share! Lets discuss this crap!

"Amy, wake up, there is poop in our bed!!"

The past few days have been tough. Georgia and I have been sick. I thought at first it was just a head cold, but I'm starting to wonder if it is the head flu. Needless to say, our rest has been hindered by coughs, running noses, aches, etc.

We went to bed last night and Jesse quickly feel asleep. I coughed. I coughed and coughed and coughed! Finally after Jesse had been snoozing for a little more than an hour he decided to move to the couch. That's when Georgia woke up. Usually we discuss which parent has the duty of getting up. It was a no brainer. I was sick, therefore Jesse would have to take care of little G.

I couldn't sleep so I got up and took another dose of drugs (it was time for round 92,353 of nasty syrup). At last, sweet sweet sleep. I had a drool soaked face and was breathing in and out in heavy sleep when I heard Jesse doing a whisper scream, "Amy, wake up! There is poop in our bed." I continued to lay there. "Who cares," I thought to myself. Angry that he woke me from my sleep. Finally after he got angrier and angrier I said, "Fine, tomorrow Violet can go away."

Jesse sprung out of bed in full disgust and flipped the light switch on. I pulled back the covers only to find, Georgia's caterpillar hair comb. I sighed and went right back to sleep.

Strange enough, I think Jesse was let down that there wasn't a lincoln log in our bed. If Violet had pooped, he would have finally convinced me that it was time to rid ourselves of the beast.
